David Mark Berger

Bio

David Mark Berger was born on May 24, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. David earned three college degrees including a Juris Doctorate, was a bronze and gold medalist in the 1965 and 1969 Maccabiah Games, and won first place in the 1969 U.S. Junior Nationals Middleweight Weightlifting Competition. In 1970, David made aliya to Israel, but retained dual U.S.-Israeli citizenship. He joined the Maccabi Tel Aviv Weightlifting Gym and in 1972, became a member of the Israeli Olympic Team. David competed as a light heavyweight weightlifter on September 2. David Berger achieved his dream of participating in the Olympic Games whose ideals of peace and brotherhood he believed in.
