

Andre Spitzer was born on July 4, 1945, in Romania. In 1964, he made aliyah to Israel with his family. After that, Andre lived in Holland for two years while earning his fencing trainer's diploma. In 1971, he married Ankie, who was also his fencing student. Following his military service, Andre studied fencing at the Israeli National Sports Academy. By 1972, he had become the head fencing instructor at the Wingate Institute and Maccabi Ramat Gan. Andre Spitzer's belief in the spirit of peace was particularly evident during his participation as one of the Israeli Olympians at the 1972 Munich Olympics, where he competed in fencing.
